Half a century ago we endured triple sessions in the August heat, pounded each other on a daily basis, and battled rugged competition weekly, all in spartan conditions. We bled green and gold.

And we had fun together, too.

Half a century later we have our memories and we have each other. We no longer flash the green and gold like we did in the day. Ours is the color that comes with age, experience, and some wisdom.

We are The Gray Eagles. Our stories are preserved here.

1968 PLAYER PROFILES

This year the Men's Hi-Rise has six residents who are members of the 1968 Golden Eagles Football Squad. One Senior, three Juniors, and two Sophomores make up our dorm's contingent.

Chris Jensen: Junior, R.A. 202. Uniform #40. A 6' 182 lb. Junior from Bethpage, NY, Chris started out the season as a defensive back but, due to injuries in the offensive backfield, was moved to offensive right halfback. Chris is now running hard and is a consistent performer.

Phil Haberstro: Sophomore, 702. Uniform #23. A 6'1" 185 lb. defensive end from Tonawanda, NY, Phil, who was a fullback on last year's Freshman squad, has made a successful shift to defensive end. A hard hitter, Phil has the strength and speed to give Brockport's defense a good boost. As Phil gains experience at his new position, he could develop into one of Brockport's finest defensemen.

Despite what the game programs indicate, Chris wore jersey #40. Chris has been practicing law in Prescott and Northern Arizona for 40 years. He and his wife Christine attended our Homecoming events this past Fall.

Phil wore #23 for all three of his varsity years. Phil is the Executive Director of the non-profit Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo.

More to come...
